Keynote Abstract: Business and IT alignment
In many modern enterprises significant parts of business models are built on, and/or embedded into, information technology platforms. However, since the first information systems started to interface with a vast number of employees there has been indications that systems are not meeting users’ expectations. Conversely, IT teams have pointed out that the new systems that have been developed and/or implemented, often against aggressive targets and in challenging situations, are not fully utilised by the organisation.
The term Business and IT alignment, and the lack of alignment, is echoing across the globe throughout all industries and organisations, both large and small. This keynote intends to shed some light on the challenge posed by IT and Business alignment using new insights gathered from Aberdeen to Windhoek.

Keynote Abstract: Future impact of Technology on Business
Over the last 4000 years the world has seen five huge technological transformations that have all had a significant impact on the various dimensions of human life. The latter of these, the information transformation, has had a major impact on business society as a whole, with some of the largest global organisations being information technology intrinsic organisations which were only established in the last couple of decades.
Successful exploiters of IT have reaped the economical benefits; those that failed to change with the times struggled, or even disappeared as a result thereof. The main challenge for organisations in a world without boundaries is to survive against competition that can come from any direction, whilst spending adequate focus and time on assessing new technologies that might change their business environment considerably.
