Trophimus Hiwilepo

Trophimus Hiwilepo holds responsibility for IT (Information Technology), a position he was appointed to on 16 July 2007. In his role, he is responsible for the IT strategy, IT governance processes, development and operation of IT systems in Cell One.
He is a member of the Cell One Executive Management Team and reports to the CEO (Chief Executive Officer).

Prior to joining Cell One, Trophimus has held a wide range of positions both in Namibia and internationally, in Hydro (Namibia, Angola and Norway), Telecom (Namibia), Sonangol (Angola) and Hydro IS Partner (Norway) since 1993.

He began his career in Hydro Namibia as a Technical Assistant in 1993. In the period 1996 – 1997 he joined Telecom Namibia initially as a Business Analyst and later as Senior Systems Administrator. He re-joined Hydro Namibia end-1997 as IT Manager, responsible for the management and operation of IT for both Hydro Namibia and Hydro Angola. Upon the closure of the Hydro Namibia office in 1999, he was expatriated to Angola. From 2001 to 2003, based on cooperation agreement between Hydro and Sonangol, he was seconded by Norsk Hydro to Sonangol P&P (Exploration & Production wing of the Angolan national oil company), Block 34 Asset Team as part of a “Technical Assistant Team”, with the aim of “experience and competence transfer” to Sonangol P&P through the operation of the Block34 exploration license, operated by Sonangol P&P. His responsibilities encompassed:
(a) Development of an IT organisation for Sonangol P&P.
(b) Development of a management framework for the development, management and operation of IT systems for Sonangol P&P.
(c) Implementation and operation of the Sonangol P&P IT systems.

During 2004 to 2006 he joined the Enterprise Server Infrastructure Team in Hydro IS Partner (100% Hydro-owned company) in Oslo, Norway as Senior Systems Consultant with responsibility for enterprise-class servers and storage infrastructure development and operations.

On request by Hydro Oil & Energy (O&E) he re-joined Hydro O&E as a member of the data management team in O&E Global Exploration (GEX) in November 2006, a position he resigned from to join Cell One in July 2007.

Hiwilepo holds a B. Sc. degree from the UWC (University of the Western Cape), Cape Town, RSA.

Born in Namibia, he is married and has 2 children.
